Club Shows

Saturday 15th May - The Tyrell's School, Chelmsford

Saturday 15th May saw us descend upon Tyrell’s primary school in Chelmsford to perform a club show for the PTA group.

We were greeted by a very energetic and enthusiastic audience of around 100 people, about 60:40 adults to children, spread around 11 tables.

The show comprised our normal format with 5 close up sessions and an hour’s stage show following a short break. Thanks to all the close uppers who performed par excellence that evening: Alan Chapman, Wally Heddon, James Gilroy, Richard Graham, James Holdsworth, Stuart Burrell, Robbie Wood, Leon Rye and Michael Davis.

The stage show kicked off with the ever confident James Gilroy performing in only his third show for us. He performed some new effects, namely the Head Zopper and Mona Lisa’s Revenge, with the jigsaw picture of the Mona Lisa with a missing piece that an audience member finds.

Next up was Richard Graham, performing his Invisible Card routine, his new Floating Table and 3 cards across, all using audience participation.

Robbie Wood followed, with his excellent presentation of the Vanishing Bandanna. To close the show, James Holdsworth thrilled the audience with a range of tricks, including fish in goldfish production, a hilarious Rocky Raccoon routine and a multi-wand routine.

Thanks also go to our intrepid backstage groupies, Audrey and Angela, for keeping us in order and on time.

The show was one of our best and we received a nice thank you from the organiser as follows:

“Just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the team from the Southend Sorcerers for making Saturday night such a successful event. Both the adults and children were enthralled and I heard quite a few people talking about the show in the playground this morning before school.  We’ll certainly be recommending you to others and will keep the contact on file for a future return appearance!”
