On Monday 15th March we held another of our infrequent workshop evenings where the plan was to discuss routining, pocket management and audience management.
In the end, for a number of reasons, only 3 members were able to attend, so along with Wally, Rick, Adrian and Dean, Robbie, Ryan and Danny sat round the table and shared their experiences of audiences good and bad. We looked at what routining meant in terms of how to progress from one effect to another during a performance; Rick showed us how his jackets have been adapted to accept a specially made set of pockets attached to the lining with press studs; we spoke about good opening and closing effects, how to approach tables when the audience isn’t expecting you, and shared some of our worst horror stories.
In the end, although it was a small (but select!) group, the evening was an enjoyable occasion which has hopefully given us all something to think about.
Thanks go to Dean once again for allowing us all to invade his home.
We’ll be arranging another workshop evening in due course – watch this space for more details.
