Workshop Evening - Monday 11th January 2010 - Coin Sleights

On Monday 11th January, a number of members got together at Dean’s club house for a coins workshop. In spite of the bad weather we had a good attendance and it was interesting to spend some quality time going through some of the ins and outs of coin work. Included were tips on various coin palms such as the classic palm, the thumb clip and finger palm; and how these could be used to accomplish a variety of effects including coin vanishes and so on.
After a look at palming methods and a few tricks from Rick and Adrian, the group went on to look at some coin gaffs and props and discussed their use. Things such as shells, coin boxes (Okito, Slot and Boston), flipper coins and folders etc were all discussed with some nice examples of how they could be used from various members. A couple of coin matrix effects were also shown and explained.

A splendid evening had by all – thanks again go to Dean for hosting the meeting.

We do plan to hold another workshop evening in a month or so, and if there’s anything you’d like to see as the subject under the microscope at one of these informal get togethers, please do let any of the committee know.
