Club Show - 9th May - Bicknacre Primary School

The club performed at the packed school hall of Bicknacre Primary School on 9th May, and what a great night it was. We had a bumper turn out of magicians to help, as well as Colin and Richard from MEMS who came along to offer support. With so many tables and a very young audience it was quite a different evening, but one which I feel sure was enjoyed by everyone who performed. Thanks to all our close-uppers on the night including Leon Rye, Ray Simkins, Robbie Wood, Ryan Sholem, James Holdsworth, Alan Chapman, Wally Heddon, Mick Geraghty, Robert Dean, Rob Newson, and last but not least Mike Davis. A thousand apologies if I’ve missed anyone – it was a busy and well attended show!

After a short break and a raffle, it was on with the second half, compered by Wally who presented some effects in between acts. Stuart Charlesworth was up first on his home ground (he lives a short walk away from the school!). Stuart presented his act as known with loads of gags, a ‘card across’ routine (very different from the normal presentation!), and a 20th Century Bra (and knickers!) change bag effect. Adrian was on next presenting some of the routines he usually includes in his kids shows – mutilated parasol, a passing through water effect with a comedy funnel, and a milk jug routine. Rick finished the evening off with his Collard routine, his new ‘pom-pom sticks to rhyme’ effect, and his cards across. All were presented with a number of sound effects coming from a remote controlled music player – all the more funny for their inclusion!

So another very successful evening for the club, and an early finish at just past 9.00. Thanks again to all who came along to help make it such a success.
