Annual General Meeting and Video Night - 7th June

The last club meeting held on 7th June was the Annual General Meeting and Video Night. As part of the formal constitution of running the Society, every year it is necessary to hold an AGM where reports are received from the committee about the past year; and the club’s officers for the forthcoming year are elected. It also gives our members an opportunity to ask questions about how the club is being run and to make suggestions for improvements. As the meeting usually only takes an hour or so, it was decided to combine it with the showing of some magic videos brought along by the members for everyone else to see.
This year there was a relatively small attendance at the meeting, but with enough members to make the AGM quorate, the business of the AGM was able to continue as planned. With the minutes of last year’s AGM approved as accurate by the members present, next on the agenda were the various reports from the committee members. Adrian, Rick and Wally went through the highlights of the year from their perspectives, and Dean’s report was read in his absence by Wally. All the reports were approved by the membership, so with the news that membership fees were planned to remain unchanged for the coming year, the committee formally stood down. However, as there were no nominations from the membership to take on any of the roles; and as the existing committee were prepared to stand for re-election, the entire committee was re-elected and unanimously voted into office by those members present. As such there is no change for the coming year: Adrian Fox, President; Dean Cadywould, Vice President; Richard Graham, Secretary and Shows Secretary; and Wally Heddon, Treasurer.
