7th December - Annual Christmas Fun Night
The last club meeting was our yearly popular evening of fun and games organised by the committee for the members and their guests. In the end we had 6 teams battling against each other to become the club’s quiz night champions for the 2008 contest. With various rounds and challenges for people to get involved in it was a lot of fun for everyone and all took part with a festive spirit of friendly rivalry.

With rounds of Jenga, Bagatelle, and Shut the Box to complete for each team, plus a music round, and a TV themed round, there was plenty going on. On top of that there were several marathons for people to complete through the evening including the identification of London’s underground stations from a series of cryptic clues; a set of road signs to identify; and a couple of other tricky rounds to get involved in.

In the end, the results and scores for each team were added up and in third place was James Holdsworth’s team, called James’s Snowballs. Rick’s team called themselves Pentangles and came second, and in first place this year by a margin of only a couple of points were Adrian’s team, the Christmas Snowballs. Choccies were awarded to all the teams as a thank you for taking part with tins of Roses or similar for the top teams.

As always the evening was great fun for the committee to organise, and we hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did. Thanks to all the committee members for taking the time and trouble to put all the rounds together – it was a great evening and a lot of positive comments have been received about it since. Here’s to next year!!
