26th April - Club Show, Southend High School for Boys
The club performed at Southend High for Boys on 26th April and it was great to see so many of our members taking part in the show - we had a total of 13 performers, so thanks to all who turned up and worked at this show.
It was tremendous to see some of our newer members performing for the club for the first time; and it was a nostalgic visit for some of our people who used to go to school there - interestingly not much had changed even though many years had gone by!!
A smaller audience than anticipated meant that we had more performers than needed (how often does that happen?!) so close uppers took it in turns to baffle their audiences. I'll try to list everyone taking part but I'll probably forget someone.... anyway, here goes. Thanks to Chris Gill, James Holdsworth, Stuart Burrell, Dean Cadywould (alias Robert Dean), Richard Graham, Wally the Wiz, Alan Chapman, Jayson Staples, Rob Newson, Jonah Ripley, Leon Rye, Ray Simkins and Adrian Fox for performing on the evening.
On stage, Adrian kicked off with his Cilla Black folder, followed by Pinnochio's Nose, Blendo Bag and Animated Hanks; Dean followed up with his very first stage performance as a mentalist (well done Dean!) and presented his UFO prediction, the Mona Lisa jigsaw, and a Big Ben prediction effect; and Richard ended up with Half Dyed silk, a new Wayne Dobson routine, his invisible card routine and the Vanishing Bandanna.
All in all a very successful evening - thanks again to all who took part.
