Shows

19th September - Harlow British Legion

The club’s last show was held at Harlow British Legion on Friday 19th September. This was a reasonably well attended show and thanks go to all our close-uppers: Leon Rye, Rob Newson, Ray Simkins, Robert Dean, Alan Chapman, Wally Heddon, Adrian Fox, Lewis Clifton and Stuart Charlesworth.
Unfortunately the evening’s programme was unexpectedly changed when, half way through our close-up set, a catering team started to deliver food to the tables while we were working. In the end it was decided to postpone the rest of our close up session until after the food was finished with. After that two further close-up outings were made, and then, with a short break, it was straight on to the stage acts.
Stuart Charlesworth began with an invisible card routine, a 20th Century bra routine involving a member of the audience and a lot of byplay with some great new gags. Adrian followed up with his Cilla folder, a tossed out deck routine, Pinnochio’s nose, and mutilated parasol. Wally closed the show with Vanishing Bandanna, his silk blendo silent act, and finally his death defying ‘cloth from under the beer cans’ trick which almost, but not quite, worked perfectly.
All in all, with everything taken into account, a good evening had by all – huge thanks to all who helped or took part.
